Winter in Dubai is an especially festive time of year. The weather seems to change right around the time of Diwali, and by the time National Day rolls around, we happily wear boots and scarves simply because we can, while weekends go into full BBQ mode.
As with any change of weather comes the usual spattering of colds and flu. It often starts as a tickle in the throat, one too many sneezes, a stuffy headache, or just feeling extra tired. You come home from work, throw yourself on the couch and declare: “I don’t feel so good. I think I may be coming down with something.” Your not sick yet, but you feel something is brewing.
So here is my “Nip it in the Bud” tissue salt remedy just for that. It is important to remember that the sooner you start this, the better chance it has of working. Once the germs have gone full bloom, and are no longer a bud, this would be more of a support than a prevention.
“Nip it in the bud” remedy
Ferrum phosphoricum (salt #3): 2 tablets
Kalium muriaticum (salt #4): 2 tablets
Kalium sulfuricum (salt #6): 2 tablets
Dissolve all tablets in a warm cup of water and sip. Do this three to four times a day, depending how you feel. For a child aged 5 to 11, put 2 tablets of each in a water bottle and let him or her sip on it throughout the day. You can also make this into a gargle and use it five times a day. Even if you wake up feeling better, continue to drink this for the second day to give your cells a little boost after they have been working hard.
If you start feeling worse, you can continue to take this remedy as support. Some people don’t like to drink the warm water. In that case you can simply dissolve the tablets under the tongue. The way I do this is that every half hour I take one tablet from one of the salts. For example: At 8:30 I take #3. At 9:00 I take #4. At 9:30 I take #6. I continue like this throughout the day until I have taken about 6 tablets of each. Try to leave a half hour between food and the tablets in order for them to be most effective. But, if you can’t, then don’t worry about it and take the salts anyway. For more information about how to take the salts, read my FAQ.
The uses for each salt are as follows:
Ferrum phosphoricum (#3): for the first stage of inflammation (dry swelling without secretion). Note that coffee and tea will inhibit the absorption of iron into the cells. I advise to take ferrum phosphoricum half an hour away from coffee or tea.
Kalium muriaticum (#4): Main remedy in the second stage of inflammation (with white, whitish-grey or white slimy viscous secretion)
Kalium sulfuricum (#6): Main remedy for the third stage of inflammation (with yellow slimy secretion).
This has worked more times than I can remember, even on the more skeptical people. However, sometimes the virus is just too strong and takes over too fast for this to nip it in the bud. In that case, you can take this as a support during the course of the cold/flu. It will help you maintain some energy, and recover faster.
